We’re at that point in the year when “all you need is a light jacket,” and if you’ve been keeping a pulse on the latest outerwear trends, then you know that there’s no shortage of amazing finds this fall. The problem? What I once spent on an investment pair of boots is now the cost of an everyday jacket, and if you do the math, you’re looking at a girl who slowly but surely won’t be able to afford either. With the cost of consumer goods seemingly rising overnight, I’ll admit that even I, a professional shopper, began to doubt my own sourcing abilities. But if there’s one thing I’m not, it’s a quitter. One internet deep-dive later, and my faith in affordable fashion has been restored.
The short window to sport an amazing jacket—arguably the most exciting part of fall fashion—can make it difficult to justify a higher price tag. While I find that some layers warrant the investment, I’d be hard-pressed to break the bank over a jacket that probably won’t see much use past November. (But if you saw me in a leopard bomber jacket from Ganni last week, just know that I had to have it.) Fortunately, if there’s one thing this season has taught me, it’s that looking chic doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. From luxe (faux) leather jackets to extra-polished trench coats, there’s a host of under-$150 jackets waiting to be discovered. And by “waiting to be discovered,” I mean that I’ve already discovered them–all you have to do is hit “add to cart.” That, ladies and gentlemen, is called teamwork.
